About Arkoma

Proprietary geology. Lasting relationships.

Our core competencies are proprietary technical information and long-standing, high-quality relationships with operators and mineral owners.

With ~1,000 minerals and royalties transactions, Arkoma is the most experienced asset manager in the most relevant U.S. LNG basin, the Haynesville Shale.

01Geology-led acquisitions

We capitalize on proprietary geologic knowledge through the acquisition of upstream assets.

02Development joint ventures

We structure development joint ventures with high-quality operators.

Investments

A family office investing in real assets.

Our core is upstream oil and gas in two basins: the Haynesville, our main natural gas area, and the Bakken, our main oil area. Real estate rounds out a portfolio built on real, tangible assets.

Our philosophy

Value investors in a commodity‑driven industry.

Seven years of feast, seven years of famine. The Joseph principle · Genesis 41

We follow the Joseph principle. Oil and gas moves in cycles, and we invest with that in mind. Recognizing those cycles and staying disciplined with our capital, without leverage, keeps us in the game and lets us capitalize on opportunities when others can't.

From the drill bit to first gas.

How a Haynesville natural gas well comes to life, step by step.

Drilling rig on location in Louisiana
01

Drilling

A drilling rig bores straight down roughly two miles, then gradually turns the wellbore horizontal and drills sideways through the Haynesville Shale, keeping the well inside the gas-bearing rock for thousands of feet.

02

Completions

Once drilled, the well is completed. Steel casing is cemented in place, the horizontal section is perforated, and water and sand are pumped in at high pressure to open small fractures in the rock (hydraulic fracturing). Those fractures give the natural gas a path to flow into the well.

Development joint ventures

Arkoma develops its prospects alongside operating partners. Through development joint ventures, our geology and acreage are paired with an operator that drills and completes the wells, and our team works on location with them.

The Christmas tree

When the well is ready to produce, a "Christmas tree" is installed on top of the wellhead. It is an assembly of valves and fittings that controls the pressure and flow of gas leaving the well, lets crews safely shut the well in, and sends production to the pipeline. It gets its name from its branching shape.
